Below is a list of some of the more popular or useful local history related websites on the Net, allowing people all over the world to share their resources and experiences.  List correct at February 2nd 2002.
 

Archives Hub
The Archives Hub is a project that aims to make descriptions of archives held in UK universities and colleges available all over the Internet.  The records include the archives of universities themselves and the research papers of their staff, records relating to the local history of the area around the institution, and collections of national and international significance.
 

Archives in Focus
This is a new education and lifelong learning website maintained by the Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts (HMC).  It gives an introduction to archives in the UK and advice on getting started with various topics of research.
 

Access to Archives
The A2A website is a resource, which will provide free access to 8,000,000 catalogue entries for archives dating from the twelfth to the twentieth centuries and held in national, local and specialist archives via the A2A site in March 2002.  The A2A programme is led by the British Library, the Historical Manuscripts Commission and the Public Record Office.

Local History Magazine
The official website for the Local History Magazine.  Provides details of latest and previous issues and gives advice on how to get started in local history and related courses offered around the country.  Includes a National Directory of local history societies, with contact names and addresses. 
 

Medieval Palaeography
A collaboration between the University of Leicester (Department of English Local History) and West Sussex Record Office.  The website offers guidance on how to read old charters using images of documents with transcriptions available. 
 

Newman College of Higher Education, Birmingham
History pages from the educational establishment.  Good links to other local pages.
 

The Churches and Bells of Worcester
Created by David Beacham, this page is primarily of interest to bell-ringers.  However, it also contains information of interest to the local historian, relating to various churches in Worcester.

Worcestershire History Encyclopaedia
A new venture, by Worcester Writer's Circle (supported by Millennium Festival Awards for All) intending to provide access to information about Worcestershire's past.
 

Worcestershire County Council, Archaeology Department
Contains information about services, surveys, projects, a picture gallery and examples of historical churches in Worcestershire, details of the Civil War, a survey article on the central marches, historic towns and the defence of Britain project.  Includes a list of Worcestershire local history and archaeology societies, with contact names and addresses.
 

Worcestershire County Museum (Hartlebury Castle)
These pages provide an introduction and history to the museum, details of current and upcoming events and exhibitions, opening times, location maps etc.  There is also a link to the Sites and Monuments Record web page.
